MocaMoca strengthens financial inclusion efforts after surpassing 20 million active users

MocaMoca has surpassed 20 million active users, marking a new stage in the platform’s efforts to help more Filipinos participate in the formal financial system.

For more than five years, the digital lending platform has provided secure and transparent credit solutions under SEC-registered Copperstone Lending Inc.

The milestone comes as the Philippines continues to face financial inclusion challenges. According to the World Bank’s 2025 Global Findex Report, only about half of Filipino adults have a formal financial account. This remains lower than the regional average across East Asia and the Pacific.

Formal borrowing is gradually increasing, with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ 2025 Consumer Finance and Inclusion Survey showing that 16% of adult borrowers now choose formal financial institutions.

Yet many Filipinos who express an intention to borrow still encounter obstacles. TransUnion’s Q2 2026 Consumer Pulse Study reported that nearly half of Filipinos intend to apply for credit, but 60% do not complete the process because of cost, eligibility requirements or other barriers.

Against this backdrop, MocaMoca has developed a fully digital lending process designed to reduce the requirements associated with accessing formal credit.

The platform provides collateral-free loans of up to ₱50,000. Applications require only one valid government ID, while automated approvals are available around the clock. Funds may be securely disbursed in as fast as five minutes.

“Many Filipinos still face barriers when accessing formal credit. Our goal is to remove those barriers through a lending experience that is simple, transparent, and built around the needs of borrowers, while maintaining the highest standards of responsibility and consumer protection,” said David Balamon, Chief Executive Officer of Copperstone Lending Inc.

MocaMoca’s structured credit growth path enables borrowers to access scalable limits while receiving clear information about loan terms. Repayment cycles are aligned with paydays to support more manageable and responsible repayment behaviour.

Through direct integrations with GCash, Maya, Coins.ph and GrabPay, borrowers can conveniently receive funds and make payments from different parts of the country.

More than 60% of MocaMoca’s borrowers are women, many of whom are responsible for household or micro-enterprise finances and have traditionally been underserved by formal credit providers.

MocaMoca is also among the 10 most-downloaded digital lending applications on Google Play in the Philippines, demonstrating continued interest in accessible digital borrowing services.

“As digital finance continues to evolve, our focus remains on helping more Filipinos access formal credit responsibly. We’ll continue investing in responsible innovation that makes borrowing more accessible, transparent, and secure, while supporting the country’s broader financial inclusion goals,” Balamon added.
